A senior police officer said on Tuesday that an Indian army helicopter had crashed near the Ranjit Sagar Dam in the Basoli region of Jammu and Kashmir in Kathua.

We received news that an army helicopter crashed into the lake. We have brought our team to the scene, Punjab Pathankot police chief Surendra Ramba said on the phone.

He said that it is still present. There were no immediate reports of casualties and added that more details are expected. The dam is about 30 kilometres away from Pathankot. Kathua SSP Ramesh Kotwal quoted locals as saying that the helicopter crashed on the dam at around 10:43 am On.

At first glance, this is a military aviation helicopter. We have put pressure on service divers and motorboats, but so far, we don’t know that there are many people on board,” Kotwal added.
