Russia Offers India to Modernize Talwar-Class Guided Missile Frigates


Rosoboronexport (part of the state-owned ROSTEC) plans to make an offer to India to modernize Project 11356 Talwar-class guided-missile frigates constructed by Russia for the Indian Navy, Rosoboronexport Chief Alexander Mikheyev said TASS at the Army-2021 international military-technical event.


"The Russian side had previously offered offers for the modernisation of the provided battleships while they were being repaired. Rosoboronexport and USC [United Shipbuilding Corporation] are prepared to make combined proposals to our partners in 2021. However, it is up to the Indian side to make a choice "According to the CEO.


"The experience of the operation of the Project 11356 warships accepted for duty in the Indian Navy has demonstrated their excellent dependability and efficiency," stated the Rosoboronexport director. "The contracts signed and now being implemented on their further construction in Russia and on coordinating their construction in India are the finest indication of this," Mikheyev continued.


The Indian Navy presently operates six Talwar-class guided missile frigates from Project 11356.
