JAMMU: Ahead of the Independence Day festivities, security personnel stormed a hideaway in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Friday, recovering a large stockpile of guns and ammunition, including grenades and detonators. One individual was detained in Poonch district, and an improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered in the Mendhar region.

In Doda, police, special operations troops, the Army, and paramilitary forces began a cordon and search operation in Tanta Forests near Kahara on Friday evening, busting a terrorist stronghold and seizing a substantial number of guns and ammunition.

The area was sealed off, but no arrests have been made while the investigations are ongoing.

In Poonch, SSP Vinod Kumar said a composite team of police, Army, and Border Security Force (BSF) troops apprehended a guy for suspicious movements. Security personnel found an IED - four sticky explosives in a bottle - and Rs 10,500 in cash after frisking the man and his staff.
