The Modi government has entrusted an essential responsibility to Vikram Misri. Misri has been appointed as a deputy NSA in the National Security Council. Misri will replace 1989 batch IFS Pankaj Saran. Vikram Misri has also worked as a personal secretary to three prime ministers.
New Delhi: Taking a big decision on Monday, the Central Government has entrusted an essential responsibility to Vikram Misri. He has been appointed by the Modi government as Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA) in the National Security Council Secretariat.
Vikram Misri is a China expert and has previously served as the former Indian envoy to China.
The Modi government at the Center has included another important person in the National Security Council. Former ambassador Vikram Misri has been appointed deputy national security advisor amid tensions with China. While Pradeep Kumar Rawat has taken over as India's envoy to China. Vikram Misri will replace IFS officer Pankaj Saran. Prior to this, Saran was a former envoy to Russia.
Vikram, a 1989 batch IFS officer, will succeed Pankaj Saran. Actually, Pankaj Saran will leave his post on 31 December 2021. Along with this, Vikram Misri will join the team of Ajit Doval and take important responsibility.
Vikram, who has already worked in PMO
This is not the first time that Vikram has got an entry in the Prime Minister's Office, he has worked in the PMO even before this. That is why he is very well aware of the strategic environment in the Indo-Pacific.
Will report to Doval
Vikram Misri will report to National Security Advisor Ajit Doval as soon as he assumes this position. Misri is not alone in Team Doval, apart from these two other deputy NSAs are also there, one of which is Rajendra Khanna and Datta Pandasalgikar.
Vikram Misri was Born in Kashmir
Vikram Misri was born on 7 November 1964 in Srinagar, Kashmir. He is a 1989 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer. He has worked in various positions in the Central Government from Under Secretary to Director in the Ministry of External Affairs.
Misri has been the personal secretary of three PMs
Apart from this, Misri has also worked as a private secretary to three prime ministers of the country. He was the personal secretary to PM Inder Kumar Gujral from April 1997 to March 1998, while from October 2012 to May 2014, he served as the personal secretary to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. After the change of power in 2014, he held the post of private secretary to PM Narendra Modi from May to July 2014.
