K(caps)athua, Jammu and Kashmir – A fierce encounter broke out between security forces and suspected militants in the Juthana area of Kathua district on Tuesday, sparking a heavy exchange of gunfire and prompting heightened security measures in the region.
According to official sources, the gunfight began after security personnel, acting on specific intelligence inputs, launched a cordon-and-search operation in the remote village. Upon encountering resistance, troops retaliated, leading to a prolonged exchange of fire.
“The operation is still ongoing, and the area has been sealed off to prevent the militants from escaping,” a senior police officer stated, requesting anonymity. Reinforcements have been rushed to the site, and drones have been deployed for surveillance.
