Operation Brahma: Indian Army's Swift Humanitarian Aid to Myanmar Following Devastating Earthquake

O(caps)peration Brahma: In a powerful display of solidarity and regional cooperation, India has launched Operation Brahma, a swift and decisive humanitarian mission aimed at providing life-saving assistance to Myanmar in the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake that struck the country on March 28, 2025. The Indian Army, under the banner of Operation Brahma, is deploying a specialised medical task force to the earthquake-ravaged nation, offering urgent aid to those in desperate need.

A 118-member team from the elite Shatrujeet Brigade Medical Responders, known as the Airborne Angels, is spearheading the mission. Led by Lieutenant Colonel Jagneet Gill, the team consists of highly trained medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, all prepared to provide immediate support to local healthcare services that are currently overwhelmed by the scale of the disaster. They will be carrying with them essential medical equipment to help treat the injured and offer critical care.

The team will establish a 60-bed Medical Treatment Centre (MTC) at a designated location in Myanmar. The centre will serve as a vital resource to augment the strained local healthcare system, which is struggling to cope with the sudden surge of injured individuals, many of whom are in dire need of medical attention.

This mission is not just a demonstration of India's military capability but also a reaffirmation of the country's unwavering commitment to its Neighbourhood First policy. Through Operation Brahma, India is extending a helping hand to a neighbouring nation in its time of greatest need. In doing so, India embodies the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the ancient Indian philosophy that the world is one family.
